Corr selected as Menomonie Optimist Club Youth of the Month
The Menomonie Optimist Club provides Boyceville High School with the opportunity to recognize the achievements and efforts of an outstanding senior student. The selected student is then recognized as the Youth of the Month.
Rian Corr was selected to represent Boyceville High School as Menomonie Optimist Youth of the Month for September. He is the son of Amy and Josh Corr of Boyceville.
The program statement from the Menomonie Optimist Club describes the qualities and attributes that made Rian a great choice: “The purpose of the Optimist Club is to develop optimism as a philosophy of life: to promote an active interest in good government and civic affairs, to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of man, his community, and the world.”
To recognize Rian’s accomplishments, there was an awards banquet held in Menomonie. Boyceville High School staff member, Andy Hamm attended the banquet as well as Rian’s parents, Josh and Amy Corr.
Hamm had the opportunity to introduce Rian and talk about his achievements, both in school and our community. Rian is a member of the National Honor Society, the Drama Club, and a former FFA member. Hehas been extremely dedicated to Science Olympiad, earning numerous awards in multiple categories of competition over his high school career.
Rian has also had a focus on athletics as he is involved with both track and field and cross country teams. He was selected to participate in the 2016 Dunn Saint Croix Sportsmanship Summit representing the student athletes and coaches of Boyceville High School.
Rian has been a valuable leader, supportive team member and a positive role model for his peers. Next fall he will be attending Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan. He will be pursuing a degree in the aerospace engineering field.
