Mayo Clinic Health System to offer strength training program at Shirley Doane Center this spring
Interested in improving your mood, energy and sleep? If so, a Strong Bodies class with Mayo Clinic Health System may help. This multi-week, evidence-based strength training program is designed for middle-aged and older women and men. Each class includes progressive weight training, flexibility and balance activities.
“Bodies change a lot during the aging process. In order to maintain our quality of life, perform certain tasks, enjoy physical activities and maintain independence, it is more important than ever to continue or start a strength training program,” says Tina Tharp, Community Wellness and Engagement.
Free basic and advanced classes are offered in Menomonie, Bloomer, and Eau Claire. Registration is required. Search “Strong Bodies” on the Classes & Events page at mayoclinichealthsystem.org or call 1-866-375-7464 (toll-free) for info and to register.
Registration in Menomonie is due Jan. 12. Both class levels are offered at Shirley Doane Senior Center (1412 Sixth St. E.) on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 16–April 26 (no class March 13 or 15). Basic classes are set from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. or 1–2 p.m., while advanced classes will take place from 10-11 a.m.
