Janice “Jan” T. Risler, 60, of Menomonie passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. She fought bravely to win her battle with brain cancer.
Jan was born July 4, 1957, in Menomonie to Richard and Joan (Huppert) Risler. She grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Menomonie High School in 1975.
Jan married Jeff Brown May 1, 1976, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Menomonie. They had two children, Stacy and Derek. They were later divorced.
Jan was employed at 3M in Menomonie, since 1979. She enjoyed her time with friends, traveling and being outdoors. She especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Jan is survived by her daughter, Stacy Brown, of Eau Claire; and son, Derek (Jessica) Brown, of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Christopher, Catelynn, Grayson, Daisy and Corbin. She is also survived by her siblings, Jim (Lorie) Risler, Colorado Springs, Colo., Linda (Mark) Doherty, Boyden, Iowa, Catherine (Lou) Richardson, Tucson, Ariz., Sandy (Duane) Apel, West Bend, Wis., John (Denise) Risler, Menomonie, F. Allen (Lisa) Risler, Trinity, Texas, and Chuck (Angie) Risler, Madison, Wis.; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Joan Risler.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Tana, Dove Healthcare Services, St. Joseph’s Hospice Care and the wonderful care from nurses and staff at the Reflections Unit.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Brad Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Falls Cemetery, township of Red Cedar, Dunn County. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service.
