DAVENPORT, Iowa — Kenneth “Ken” Dolby, 76, of Davenport passed away Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Genesis East, Davenport.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Vietnam Veterans of America Meeting Hall, W8945 Highway 10, Ellsworth, Wis. 54011. Memorials may be made to Combat Veteran’s Motorcycle Association Chapter 39-A 6140 N. Linwood Ave. Davenport, Iowa 52806. Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting his family with arrangements.
Ken was born in Mercer, Pa. in 1940, to George and Lois Dolby. He served with the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 and served one tour in Vietnam with the Big Red One. Upon returning from Vietnam in 1965, he married Rachel Backhaus and later had three children. In 1996, he married Connie Delong, in Menomonie. He retired as Master Technician for 3M in 2001. Ken served as Past Master for the Masonic Lodge, in Waverly, Iowa, and was a Shriner, past President of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 331 in Wisconsin. He was a member of the D.A.V., American Legion, VFW and the NRA. He also instructed Dale Carnegie workshops. He loved hunting and fishing, NASCAR and sprint car races, and cooking. His children refer to him as being the calm rational voice in times of need.
Survivors include his wife, Connie of Menomonie; daughters, Diane Harris of Monroe, Wash. and Debra (Chris) Bozik of Davenport; and grandchildren, Audrey Harris, Kailee Gott, Delainey Bozik and Padriac Bozik.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Kenneth Dolby; his parents; and a brother, George “Frank” Dolby.
