Lyle Arthur Behling, 90, of Menomonie passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at his home.
He was born Sept. 28, 1927, in the town of Stanton, Dunn Cty., Wis., to Arthur and Bernice (Wilcox) Behling. He was raised in the town of Stanton, attended Clack Grade School and graduated from Boyceville High School.
On Oct. 7, 1949, Lyle married Vernetta Hintz at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie.
Lyle worked at various jobs over the years, including Century Fence, Van’s Appliance, Culligan and Gibsons Watercare Service.
Lyle was an avid outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards and dancing. Lyle was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Lyle is survived by two children, Carole Behling (Brian Scholfield) and Lynn (Kathy) Behling; two granddaughters, Katie (Josh) Husby and Kristi (David) Feeney; two great-grandchildren, Alaina and Levi Husby; a brother, Edgar (Sharon) Behling; two sisters, Barbara Hammons and Norma (Roger) Schutt; brother-in-law, Wayne Schutt; and also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vernetta; two brothers, Manvel and Ralph Behling; two sisters, Betty Hoyt and Lorraine Schutt; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Hammons and Jim Hoyt.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie with Pastor Bob Friese officiating. There will be visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie and at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Teegarden Cemetery in the town of Lucas, Dunn Co. Wis. at a later date.
