On Oct. 14, First Congregational United Church of Christ will launch “Messy Church”, a family-friendly, all-ages worship service, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the church (420 Wilson Ave., Menomonie).
Messy Church began in England in 2004, with leadership from Lucy Moore and the Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF), as a way to build community and share the stories of God’s love in an accessible way for children and families. It has since spread to almost 40 countries.
Susan Weston, minister of Christian Education and Formation, explains that the program features generations learning and having fun together. Pastor Kathleen Remund adds, “We’ve been working hard and creatively to build a new ministry of welcome and worship to be offered by our congregation. We hope that this ministry will be a gift of love, laughter, welcome and good news to our Menomonie neighbors.”
Messy Church Menomonie meets on the second Saturday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of First Congregational UCC. A meal is included. All are welcome. For information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 715-235-5838.
