The Mars Racing team returned to Dirt Late Model competition over the March 29-30 weekend at the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., as the 1/4-mile bullring played host to the two-day ‘Thaw Brawl.’ On Friday night, Jimmy Mars laid down the fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session and later took the win in his heat race. After starting the $2,000 to win UMP feature event from the outside of the second row, Mars moved up to third in the 30-lap affair to finish behind winner Dennis Erb, Jr. and runner-up Austin Hubbard.

At LaSalle on Saturday evening, a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs in the ‘Thaw Brawl’ finale, which was sanctioned by the American Late Model Series (ALMS). Mars posted the fourth quickest lap in his group during time trials and later placed second in heat race action. The Menomonie star then had a strong run in the 50-lapper, as he crossed underneath the checkers sixth behind victor Brian Birkhofer, Chris Simpson, Brandon Sheppard, Billy Drake and Austin Hubbard.
