The Menomonie Hoops sixth grade team became Great Northwest League Champions after going 7-0 and defeating Red Wing in the championship game held Saturday and Sunday at UW-Eau Claire McPhee Center.

“As far as we know, this is the first time a Menomonie Hoops team (boys or girls) has won this tournament, and we have been part of the league for over 10 years,” coach Stacy Berg wrote.

In pool play, the team held opponents to a total of 19 points to earn the number one seed heading into bracket play.

They defeated Redwing 47-20 in the championship match.
