Menomonie’s golf team was busy early this week as it competed in the Hudson Invite on Monday and at a Big Rivers Conference meet in Chippewa Falls on Tuesday. The Mustangs placed last of seven teams at both meets.

Leading MHS in Hudson was Sam Mason, who shot an 87. Scott Ross wasn’t far behind with an 89. Rounding out the varsity lineup were Jace Cseter (97), Colton Tarter (108), Jon Talberg (108) and Sam Steinberger (125).

Ross paced the Mustangs in Chippewa Falls, finishing in 43 strokes while Mason was two strokes behind at 45. Cseter and Tarter each finished at 50, and Caleb Isbenbenger, 56.

“I was very pleased again with the score of Sam Mason,” said Menomonie coach Mike Larson.

“Scott (Ross) had a good front nine (42) and faded a bit down the stretch,” Larson added. “He is still fighting a bit of in injury and it was difficult for him the last several holes.”
