Meatball supper

A full plate of delicious food at the United Methodist Church Meatball Dinner is guaranteed. Last year, Marjory Smith added cooked carrots to a plate loaded with potatoes and meatballs held by Larry Laird, while Barbara Laatsch waits with another holding mashed potatoes. The dinner and Fall Fest is Thursday, Nov. 3.

The annual Meatball Dinner and Fall Fest at the Menomonie United Methodist Church is Thursday, November 3, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Featured is a meatball dinner, including including homemade meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy, carrots, salads, pie and other desserts, and beverages.

“We’re aiming to serve 400 dinners this year,” says Marilyn Waldbuesser, in charge of the crew making 1,700 meatballs. “Last year we served under 300 because of the rain.”

The meatball dinner is chaired by Patricia Cederholm, vice–president of United Methodist Women.

The dinner requires more than 200 pounds of potatoes, many bowls of six different salads, more than 40 homemade pies and many cakes and bars.

The cost of the dinner is $8 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12 years old, and $25 for a family.

Carry–out is available; call 715-235-0654 after 3 p.m. on Nov. 3.

The Fall Fest also includes a craft and harvest produce sale.

Sponsored by the United Methodist Women, the event’s goal is to raise $3,000 for local and worldwide mission projects that help women, children and youth. Local projects supported are Stepping Stones Food Pantry, Stepping Stones Shelter, The Bridge to Hope, and The Free Clinic of the Greater Menomonie Area.

The Menomonie United Methodist Church is located at 2703 Bongey Drive, one block west of the National Guard Armory. Call the church at 715-235-0654 for more information.
