The Menomonie Singers

The Menomonie Singers will hold auditions for all sections (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) on Tuesday, Sept. 5 and Wednesday, Sept. 6 at UW-Stout from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. each evening.

The Menomonie Singers has been in existence since 1989, and presents four regular concerts of choral music per year. The choir is hoping to expand to 40 members. Participants must be 18 or older or post high school.

Auditions will be held at UW-Stout’s Applied Arts, Room 315. Dr. Jerry Hui, the choir’s conductor, and Juliana Schmidt, executive director, will conduct the auditions. There is no need to prepare a piece; the audition will include the following a range check, a sight-singing exercise, and musicality showcase in which singers will be asked to sing one of the following: Silent Night, Happy Birthday, or My Country Tis of Thee.

Weekly rehearsals for the fall season begin Monday, Sept. 11 in Room 315. A choir retreat is also planned for Saturday, Sept. 23, at Menomonie’s United Methodist Church. Two concerts made up of works by women composers are set for Nov. 17 and 19.

Contact Juliana Schmidt, anoldsweetsong@hotmail.com, 715-505-3525, to set up an audition appointment, or for more information.
