Pipes at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church-Drywood froze after someone left the door to the church open, a log item with the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department said.

The incident was reported at 8:23 a.m. Monday.

The sheriff’s department had no further information about the incident Tuesday.

Rev. Peter Manickham did not return a call from a Herald reporter for an assessment of damage to the church. A spokesman from the Diocese of La Crosse did not respond by press time.

The church was founded in 1886 and is served by Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Jim Falls.
