A man and a woman, both of Cadott, have been charged after a 2016 van rollover in Lake Hallie turned up suspected methamphetamine and suspected narcotic drugs.

Kelly J. Hair, 30, and Mark D. Neumueller, 29, were each charged with possession of methamphetamine; Hair faces an additional charge of possession of narcotic drugs.

Hair will face an initial appearance in Chippewa County court April 10 at 1:30 p.m.; Neumueller is slated to appear April 17 at 1:30 p.m.

According to a criminal complaint:

Lake Hallie law enforcement responded to a report of a van flipping over on State Highway 53 on Nov. 22, 2016 at approximately 7:30 a.m. An officer witnessed a man and a woman digging around in the flipped vehicle as he approached.

A male citizen who had stopped because of the crash told the officer that the occupants were “throwing items into the pond.”

Law enforcement discovered suspected narcotic drugs, a white substance that tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine and suspected drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and on top of ice in the pond.

Hair told an officer that the items belonged to a friend, and she was taking the items to Eau Claire to dispose of them.
