The body of a woman reported missing was found in a wooded area in the town of Lafayette shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.
The body of Courtney M. Hagel, 33, was in the area of County X near the Cenex service station.
"Deputies were led to a row of pine trees north of County X along the railroad tracks where the body was located," Chippewa County Undersheriff Eugene Gutsch said.
"No foul play is suspected and the community is not at risk. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death," Gutsch said.
She was last seen Aug. 20.
Here is the original story from Aug. 23:
The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a town of Lafayette woman who has been missing since 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Friends of Courtney M. Hagel, 33, said she was upset and threatened to harm herself as she left a residence on County X in Town of Lafayette. The department was told Hagel left on foot, leaving behind a cell phone and personal items.
Hagel is described as being five-foot-four, 110 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. However it is possible her hair is colored with a blonde tint. When she left she was waring a green tank top and a sweatshirt.
Undersheriff Eugene Gutsch said Hagel has relatives in the Bloomer area but spends most of her time in the St. Paul-Minneapolis area.
“Attempts by family and friends to contact her via social media and other sources have been without success,” Gutsch said.
Anyone knowing where Hagel is may call the sheriff’s department at (715) 726-7701.
