Announcing closing of Gordy's store

Gordy’s Market is officially closed in Eau Claire, with the closing Wednesday of its store at 1031 W. Clairemont Ave.

Gordy’s is being sued by Nash-Finch, a food distributor, for $86 million. Gordy’s assets are scheduled to be auctioned off in Milwaukee on Monday. Then a motions hearing is scheduled in Chippewa County Circuit Court for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28.

Two other Gordy’s locations in Eau Claire have been sold to Festival Foods. A third, on Hamilton Avenue, has closed.

In Chippewa County, Gordy’s operates stores in downtown Chippewa Falls, Lake Wissota and in Cornell. A store in Chippewa Commons on the south side of Chippewa Falls has been closed.
