Police had little trouble identifying the theft suspect at a Chippewa Falls saloon, as video surveillance showed the only patron grabbing four deposit bags and leaving.

Clifford E. Tyler, 37, of 808 Macomber St. #4, has been charged with felony theft of movable property.

According to a criminal complaint:

Chippewa Falls Police responded to a reported theft at the Snout Saloon, 13 W. Central St., on Jan. 30 at about 1:30 a.m. The bartender said four deposit bags were taken from under the till while she was in a different room.

The bartender estimated the money in the bags totaled from $2,000 to $2,500.

She suspected Tyler had taken them, since he was the only person with her at the bar at the time. Surveillance video of the bar confirmed a man matching Tyler’s description went behind the bar and grabbed the bags.

A signature bond was set at $3,000 for Tyler in Chippewa County court.
