The 2017 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded—and one winning team member’s wife has a local connection.

Kathleen Santineau, wife of member and signee of the winning team Todd Etzel, is from Chippewa Falls and is an alumna of University of Wisconsin—Eau Claire. Etzel is from Green Bay, Wis. and De Pere, Wis.

The pair now lives in Azusa, Calif.

Etzel contributed to the LIGO Gravity Project Inception project, for which Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish and Kip S. Thorne will be recognized.
