APPLETON, Wis. — Anthony “Tony” R. Rowan, 55, of Appleton passed away suddenly as a result of a heart attack Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, in Appleton.
Tony was born June 9, 1962, in Englewood, Colo., to Russell and Sharon (Meinen) Rowan.
Tony graduated from McDonell High School class of 1980.
Tony was a reliable, conscientious, hardworking, people person. Throughout his adult life, he worked in management positions at Steve’s Car Wash, Chippewa Theater, and Heyde Health Systems & Park Inn/Arizona’s in Chippewa Falls, and Shakopee, Minn. Tony’s most recent employment of 11 years was as the Chief Engineer at LaQuinta Inn and Suites, in Appleton.
Tony was a kid-magnet. He was a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews and he loved them equally in return. He was known as “The Godfather” since he was Godfather to Jake Ludwigson, Christopher Swoboda, Jon Rowan and Jack Huber as well as honorary Godfather to Samantha (Beland) Cox. He was a great role model, willingly sharing his Catholic faith through words and actions.
During his free time, Tony was passionate about his “Munzee” hobby. With this modern day scavenger hunt he formed many strong friendships, traveled around the country, and attended conventions. (user name-ynotrowan)
Tony formed true lasting friendships throughout his life because of his big heart, his kind words, and because he always put the needs of others ahead of his own. Friends and family knew that they could always count on Tony. It would be very difficult for those that knew Tony to ever find a negative thing to say about him. He was just that kind of a person.
Tony was one of a kind. He was a loving son, a dependable brother, a fun-loving and caring uncle and Godfather, and a true friend who will never be forgotten. Tony will truly be missed!
Tony is survived by his parents; two brothers, Jeff Rowan and Mike (Beth) Rowan, both of Chippewa Falls; three sisters, Cindy (Cliff) Beland of Columbus, Ga., Sheila (Jim) Sherman of Chippewa Falls, and Lori (Chris) Huber of Minneapolis, Minn.; as well as 16 nieces and nephews and 10 great- nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Cletus and Dorothy (Ritzinger) Rowan and Bernard and Sylvia (Zwiefelhofer) Meinen.
