Arnetta M. Eckes, a longtime resident of Chippewa Falls passed away peacefully with her family at her side Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at the Lake Hallie Memory Care.
Arnetta was born, raised and educated in Marathon City. She was the daughter of Alfred and Bertha (Fischer) Buchberger. On Feb. 5, 1942, she married Lloyd W. Eckes in Belleville, Ill.
Arnetta was devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the heart of her family. She also enjoyed travel, golf and bowling.
Arnetta is survived by her husband, Lloyd. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary last February. She is survived by four sons, Alan (Ann) of Eau Claire, Jeffrey (Fran) of Appleton, Wis., Jerre (Sue) and Charles (Cindy) both of Chippewa Falls; as well as three daughters, Lynette Brigham, of Boston, Mary (Steven) Gitelis of Chicago and Maureen (Morris) Kharasch of Highland Park, Ill. In addition, she leaves 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Alvin and Robert Buchberger; and one granddaughter, Virginia McAlister.
A Memorial Mass will be held at noon Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Holy host Catholic Church with the Rev. Jesse Burish officiating. Inurnment will be at Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls.
The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Lake Hallie Memory Care for the wonderful care they provided Arnetta. The family also appreciates the supportive care provided by Saint Joseph’s Hospice Care, especially Aaron.
