Dennis A. Shufelt Sr., 76, of Chippewa Falls passed away and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Dove Healthcare in Bloomer.
Dennis was born Sept. 7, 1941, in the town of Cleveland, the son of Leslie and Edna (Couillard) Shufelt. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy.
On Oct. 26, 1963, Dennis married Barbara Jenneman at St. John’s Catholic Church in Sheldon. He was a member of Holy Ghost Church.
Dennis worked for the Chippewa Falls School District. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers, loved the ocean and traveling and cherished watching his grandchildren play sports, and his dog, Lucy.
Dennis is survived by three sons, Dennis Jr. (Sally) and Brian (Rhonda) Shufelt both of Chippewa Falls and Mark (Annette) Shufelt of Woodbury, Minn.; one daughter, Kathleen (Anthony) Marcin of Madison, Wis.; four brothers, Darrel (Shirley) Shufelt of La Crosse, Jerry (Lois) Shufelt of Gilman, Monte (Debbie) Shufelt of Bloomer and Earl (Peggy) Hinkel of Gilman; three sisters, Erla (Thomas) Cheatham of Bartlett, Ill., Dianne (Vic) Lauer of Chippewa Falls and Sandy (Steve) Lechleitner of Holcombe; 11 grandchildren, Derek, Allison, Benjamin, Alec, Jake and Parker Shufelt, Naomi Haynes, Emily Houger, Brandon Haynes, Sam and Joe Marcin; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Patrow, Corey Houseman, Ryker and Zoey Haynes.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, Nov. 30, 2012; and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Holy Ghost Church in Chippewa Falls. The Very Rev. Justin Kizewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Entombment will be in Hope Mausoleum in Chippewa Falls. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14 and from 11 a.m. until noon at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian vigil service at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
