OCONOMOWOC, Wis./CHIPPEWA FALLS — Desley “Dez” Thomas, 71, of Oconomowoc, formerly of Chippewa Falls, died peacefully at Lindengrove Nursing Home in Mukwonago, Wis. Monday, April 9, 2018.
She was born in Chippewa Falls Nov. 20, 1946, to Donald and Dorothy (Picotte) Meredith. Dez married Ronald Thomas on Sept. 10, 1966, in Chippewa Falls. She worked as a Telecommunications Specialist at AT&T for many years until her retirement in 2011.
Dez enjoyed bowling, watching softball, gardening, hunting, fishing, golf, horseshoes, camping, Olympics, NASCAR, and shopping. She was an avid Brewer, Badgers and Packer fan. Dez was a phenomenal cook, making Rommegrut every year for Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Oconomowoc. She also enjoyed watching hot air balloons, and had a wild and crazy fashion sense with her shoes and eyeglasses.
Dez is survived by her son, James of Chippewa Falls; daughter, Gayle (Keith) Bailey of Wichita Falls, Texas; special friend, Grace Lokken of Oconomowoc; siblings, Donna (Roger) Hainstock, Dale (Jo) Meredith, Daniel (Pam) Meredith, Diane (Duane) Schindler, Denise Henry, and David Meredith; sister-in-law, Kathy Meredith; eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ronald; and her brother, Douglas Meredith.
The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, 44 E. Columbia St., Chippewa Falls, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. The Rev. William Plautz will be officiating. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
