Henry L. Shilts ‘Jr.’

ALTOONA — Henry L. Shilts “Jr.,” 88, of Boyd passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona.

He was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Laona, the son of Henry C. and Rosetta (Engel) Shilts. When Henry was 4 years old the family returned to Boyd to the family farm. He attended Boyd schools and graduated from Boyd High School.

Henry married Joyce K. Larson on June 23, 1951, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cadott.

“Jr.” was a farmer but had many other occupations, including 50 years of school bus driving and working 19 years at the Northern Center. He was an avid Brewer and Packer fan.

Henry is survived by: his son Herman (Eileen Potocnik) Shilts of Eau Claire; two daughters, Pat (Bob) Anderson of Altoona and Janice (Peter) Holm of Chippewa Falls; two grandchildren, Joshua (Liz) Anderson of Minneapolis and Jordan (Emily) Anderson of Fridley, Minn.; and three step-grandchildren, Jason Anderson of River Falls, Jeremy Holm of West Salem and Orion Holm of Chippewa Falls.

He is preceded in death by: his wife, Joyce; and his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Boyd, with Pastor Raymond Bell officiating. Visitation will be held 90 minutes prior to the service at the church. Burial will immediately follow the service at Union Cemetery in Edson Township.

The family would like to thank the staff at both Oakwood Villa Nursing Home and Dove Healthcare West, as well as Henry’s friends and neighbors, Joe, Joan, and Larry Jackson of Boyd, for the loving care shown to him.
