Lloyd S. Nyre Jr., 78, of Chippewa Falls died suddenly Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at his residence.
Lloyd was born Sept. 18, 1939, in Bennett Valley, the son of Lloyd S. and Tracy (Sather) Nyre, Sr. He had worked at the Northern Center for the Developmentally Disabled for 40+ years.
During high school, he participated in the ROTC for the Navy and served as a seaman in the U.S. Navy from Aug. 14, 1958 to Aug. 17, 1960.
Lloyd married Betty Borseth in 1965 and they later divorced, he then married Lois (Kurtz) Johnson May 5, 1984 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls.
He was a member of Notre Dame Church.
Lloyd took pride in his grandchildren, and enjoyed working in his yard and flowers, was an avid Packers fan and enjoyed motorcycle riding.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Lois; one son, Jeffrey (Lona) Nyre of Thief River, Minn.; one daughter, Julie (fiancé, Tony Sbaraggia) Martinez of Eleva; two stepsons, Richard (Sharmin) Johnson and Willy (Kris) Johnson both of Chippewa Falls; one stepdaughter, Jodi (Josh) Fasbender of Cornell; three sisters, Julie (George) Benning of Mondovi, Dorothy “Che Che” Eberhardt of Eau Claire and Diane Wathke of Hudson, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and his dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, John Eberhardt and Charli Wathke; and one great-grandson, Peyton Rivers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Jesse Burish will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery in Chippewa Falls. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian vigil service at 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
