Lorenzo “Larry” M. Briggs, 88, formerly of the Chippewa Manor and recently of Dove Healthcare West died Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire.
Larry was born Sept. 10, 1929, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Lorenzo and Edith (Lamont) Briggs. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On Oct. 7, 1950, Larry married Donna M. Maffuccio. He proudly served as a police officer for the city of Pittsfield and Camp Danbee in Hinsdale, Mass.
Larry is survived by two sons, Bob (Mary Sue) Briggs of Farmington, Minn., and Jim (Elizabeth) Briggs of West Hartford, Conn.; one sister, Emily Papa of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Meredith and Emma Briggs of West Hartford, Susan (Andrew) Bartlett of Kansas City, Mo., and Sarah (Michael) Stelzner of Zumbrota, Minn.; and five great-grandchildren, Bryan and Eli Stelzner, Makayla, Ava and Emilee Bartlett.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents; and two sisters.
He was a loving brother to his sisters, Emily, Gwen and Ruth. He was also a loving grandpa and great-grandpa.
Memorial services will be held in Pittsfield, at a later date with burial of cremains in Pittsfield Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials to the Boy Scouts of Pittsfield, or the Boys and Girls Club of Chippewa Falls.
