Richard E. Steinmetz, 83, of Eau Claire died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Clearwater Care Center in Eau Claire under the care of St. Croix Hospice.
Richard was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Chippewa Falls, the son of Ernest S. and Gladys (Afflesey) Steinmetz. He served in the Army National Guard and he retired from Uniroyal after 38 years.
Richard was a member of Notre Dame Church in Chippewa Falls. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and coaching his son on the basketball team. He also enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and Brewers play.
Richard is survived by one son, Jeffrey Steinmetz of Eau Claire; one brother, Donald (Shari) Steinmetz of Menomonie; three sisters, Mary Miller of Eau Claire, Janet (Richard) Nosal and Lois Ruf both of Chippewa Falls; and brother-in-law, David Meinen of Cadott.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ernest Steinmetz, Jr., and David Steinmetz; and three sisters, Joan Rathbun, Carol Jean Steinmetz and Rose Meinen.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Jesse Burish of Notre Dame Church will be officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Calvary Cemetery in Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, until the time of services at 11 a.m. at the Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls.
