The Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Railroads is investigating whether Union Pacific railroad crossings in Lake Hallie, Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire are adequate for safety.

The agency is looking at grade crossings on Main Street and Pumphouse Road in Chippewa Falls, along with 40th Avenue (Pederson Road) in Lake Hallie. Other Union Pacific crossings being examined are on Starr Avenue, Eddy Lane, Melby Stret and Hogarth Street in the city of Eau Claire.
