Elizabeth Scarlett Burns, 40, of Chippewa Falls was charged Monday with two counts of second-degree sexual assault-use of force and single counts of misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property. One of the sexual assault charges is listed in court records as an attempted assault.
Online court records said Judge Steven Gibbs issued a bench warrant for Burns, who did not appear at a scheduled court hearing Tuesday. Burns had signed a $1,000 signature bond on Aug. 31.
According to a criminal complaint:
A sexual assault was reported in Lake Hallie on Aug. 29.
A woman told a police officer that Burns had become upset, and was yelling, screaming and breaking glass in a bedroom.
Burns left the bedroom and became physically aggressive with the woman, ripping the woman’s shirt. Burns then took scissors and cut the bra the woman making the report was wearing.
The woman said Burns pulled her by the hair, and Burns eventually threw the woman on the bed that was covered in broken glass. The woman said Burns then pinned down the woman, and sexually assaulted her.
