ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The University of Wisconsin men's hockey team closes out the first half of the season Saturday night against Michigan (6:30 p.m. no TV, 1310 AM), and it's looking for a better second-night effort than it has seen recently.
In the last three weekends, the Badgers are 0-3 on Saturday after a victory or a tie the night before. First, it was a 2-0 home loss to Merrimack. Then, a 6-5 loss at Denver. Then, a 7-4 home loss to Omaha.
After a 7-4 victory over Michigan on Friday, Badgers coach Tony Granato referenced those Saturday slip-ups.
"They're going to be better," Granato said of the Wolverines. "We've got to be better in some areas, too. We're going to go into the game knowing that what's coming at us (Saturday) will be a different kind of challenge."
UW has one change to its lineup from Friday's game: Cullen Hurley replaces Patrick Sexton on defense.
Michigan has one personnel change at forward — Niko Porikos in for Max Shuart — among a host of line changes. Griffin Luce replaces Christian Meike on defense.
