BLOOMER — The Bloomer football team moved to 4-0 for the first time since 2009 with a 30-16 victory over Northwestern on Friday evening in Heart O'North Conference play.
The Blackhawks (4-0, 2-0) piled up 346 yards of total offense including 208 yards on the ground on 40 carries in the win.
Bloomer quarterback Zach Ruf threw for 138 yards and a touchdown and ran for 66 yards. Caleb Ruf added 47 yards and a touchdown, Payton Dachel had 36 rushing yards on four carries and the duo of Philip Jorstad and Leif Iverson combined for 59 yards and each found the end zone as Bloomer jumped out to a 30-0 lead after three quarters.
Regan Ruffi had 169 yards and a touchdown for Northwestern (2-2, 1-1).
Bloomer plays at Cumberland next Friday.
Lake Holcombe/Cornell 38, Flambeau 26
At Tony, the Knight scored 22 points in the third quarter to turn a 18-16 halftime deficit into a double-digit win in South Lakeland Conference play.
Luke Geist ran for two scores and 26 yards and threw for 184 yards and two more scores to lead the Knights (2-2, 2-0). Wyatt Viegut ran for 142 yards on 17 carries including a big 79-yard score to start the scoring in the third quarter and added a team-high 88 receiving yards on five catches for Lake Holcombe/Cornell.
"The first half we got smacked with penalties and a turnover and we just were a little flat," Lake Holcombe/Cornell coach Troy Story said. "They came out and changed their attitudes in the second half and got on the right track."
Kayden Kinney had four catches for 50 yards and a second-quarter touchdown while Cooper Boehm caught a four-quarter score.
The Knights defense also forced five turnovers for a second game win a row with three interceptions and two fumble recoveries.
"It's coming from all different players," Story said of the defense. "I'm very happy with our defense. They're creating turnovers and that's helping us on the other side of the ball."
Lake Holcombe/Cornell returns home next Friday to host Turtle Lake at Holcombe.
New Auburn 40, Winter 20
At New Auburn, the Trojans jumped out to a 40-8 lead on their way to an 8-Man Small Lakeland Conference victory over the Warriors.
New Auburn (2-2, 2-2) plays at Washburn next Friday.
Abbotsford 56, Thorp 21
At Abbotsford, the Falcons scored 42 points in the first half on their way to a Cloverwood Conference win.
Reece Drost and Peyton Montgomery ran for 59 and 44 yards, respectively, and both found the end zone on the ground for Thorp (2-2, 1-1). Drost also found Jakob Rosemeyer for a touchdown pass and threw for 149 yards.
Adam Seefluth and Ean Rau each ran for a pair of scores with Seefluth having 157 rushing and Rau close behind with 145.
Thorp plays at Gilman next Friday.
Owen-Withee 13, Gilman 6
At Owen, the Blackhawks prevailed in a Cloverwood Conference matchup.
Tyler Boie ran for 75 yards and a second-quarter touchdown for Gilman (2-2, 0-2). Kevin Kitlica ran for 163 yards and two second-half touchdowns, including a score with 2:54 to go to extend their lead.
