The Chi-Hi girls golf team finished in third place on Thursday afternoon at a Big Rivers Conference meet hosted by the Cardinals at Lake Wissota Golf Course.
The Cardinals were third out of seven teams with a team score of 194, trailing team champion Eau Claire Memorial (174) and second-place River Falls (176). Chi-Hi was 10 strokes in front of Eau Claire North (204) for third place.
Camryn Schaller and Kyra Coubal tied for the top score of the day for Chi-Hi, each finishing with a 46. They were two players in a four-way tie for sixth place overall, even with Eau Claire North’s Tia Martin and River Falls’ Emma Vik.
Courtney Fisher was one stroke behind with a 47, tied for 10th while Caitlin Swim carded a 55 to round out the scoring finishers for Chi-Hi.
“We had three girls shoot in the 40s and if you do that you’ve got a shot to finish in the top three,” Chi-Hi coach Rick Silloway said.
Fisher had one her top rounds of the year, working through an early eight on the third hole to finish her day with a four or five on five of the final six holes to cap a top-10 finish.
“She struggled on that (third) hole but she usually comes back,” Silloway said of Fisher. “She doesn’t let too many things bother her and that’s good.”
Eau Claire Memorial’s Lexi Meade rolled to medalist honors with a 34, seven strokes in front of second place.
Chi-Hi returns to action on Tuesday with a Big Rivers Conference meet at Tanglewood Greens Golf Course in Menomonie.
