River Falls at Chi-Hi girls tennis 9-12-17

The Chi-Hi girls tennis team picked up a pair of singles victories but fell by the slimmest of margins 4-3 to River Falls in a Big Rivers Conference dual on Tuesday afternoon at Chi-Hi.

The Cardinals scored singles victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles with wins from Abbie Reed and Marah Dunham. Reed picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Heidi Marg while Dunham battled Grace Wachtler to a hard-fought 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win.

The No. 2 doubles team of Alexis Zenner and Ashley Hanley was victorious as well with a 6-2, 7-6 (7) win against Greta Schneckenberger and Sophie Johnson.

No. 1 singles Sarah Altmann fell to Gina Falkins (5-7, 3-6), No. 4 Maria Friedel was defeated by Courtney Westbrook (6-7(1), 2-6), the No. 1 doubles team of Chloe Exner and Mikayla Runge fell to Gina Filkins and Olivia Kittleson (6-7(6), 6-2, 2-6) and the No. 3 doubles duo of Kayleigh Carotenuto and Maggie Burgess battled to a two-set defeat (2-6, 3-6) with Kalea Lemke and Sam Gregor.

Chi-Hi plays at Eau Claire North on Thursday.
