WAUSAU — The Chi-Hi girls basketball team survived a triple-overtime thriller with Wausau West on Tuesday night, beating the Warriors 106-101.
The Cardinals got huge games from Caelan Givens, Alexis Zenner and Aaliyah McMillan to grab the nonconference win. Givens scored a game-high 29 points, and Zenner and McMillan poured in 24 and 18, respectively.
The two teams were deadlocked at 74 after regulation, and both teams scored 13 points in the first overtime to send it to a second. 11 more points from both the Cardinals (14-7) and Warriors (14-7) sent the game to a third overtime tied at 94.
Chi-Hi edged West 12-7 in the third extra period to seal the win.
Ashley Hanley scored 11 points for the Cardinals and Brooke Rooney chipped in with eight.
Maddie Schires and Tess Hauer both had 26 points for Wausau West.
The Cardinals travel to Eau Claire North on Friday, where they can guarantee themselves at least a share of the Big Rivers Conference title for the seventh straight year with a win. A Chi-Hi victory over the Huskies paired with a Hudson loss to Eau Claire Memorial would make the Cardinals outright champions.

Charlie Bleskachek scored 15 points for McDonell (10-9, 8-5), and Hayden Baughman added 13. McDonell made 13 3-pointers in the loss.
