STANLEY — Tahlia Walton has quickly emerged as a force to be reckoned with for the Stanley-Boyd girls basketball team.

Walton put up 30 points on Friday evening in Stanley-Boyd's 56-52 Western Cloverbelt Conference victory over McDonell.

The UW-Milwaukee commit scored 16 points in the first half and 14 after halftime as the Orioles (3-0, 1-0) stayed unbeaten in league play. Arianna Mason and Ella Koenig each added seven points and Hannah Hause scored six in the win.

Abby Opsal led McDonell (1-1, 0-1) with 10 points while Grace Mrozinski added nine and Abby Wampler scored eight points.

McDonell resumes play Saturday when it hosts Clayton.  Stanley-Boyd travels to Cadott on Tuesday.

Bloomer 63, Cumberland 13

At Bloomer, the Blackhawks rolled to a Heart O'North Conference win over the Beavers.

Justyne Burgess had a game-high 13 points and Sierra Raine added 12 for Bloomer (1-1, 1-0). Shaina Zwiefelhofer also finished in double figures with 10 points and Isabella Jenneman added eight in the win.

Bloomer hosts Cameron on Saturday.

Eau Claire Regis 87, Cadott 26

At Cadott, Eau Claire Regis had a monster first half on its way to a Western Cloverbelt Conference victory.

The Ramblers took a 57-8 lead into the half to pull away in convincing fashion.

Abby Eiler, Autumn Bremness and Jada Kowalczyk led Cadott with six points apiece. Mary Jo Prokupek had four points for the Hornets.

The Hornets (1-4, 0-1) return to the court hosting Stanley-Boyd on Tuesday.

Webster 26, New Auburn 25

At New Auburn, the Trojans fell by a point to Webster in a nonconference game.

New Auburn held a 17-15 lead at halftime. Nadia Rada led the Trojans with 12 points.

New Auburn (0-2) is back on the court Thursday when it plays Lac Courte Oreilles on the road.

Altoona 53, Thorp 46

At Thorp, the Cardinals were defeated in a Western Cloverbelt Conference game against Altoona (1-1, 1-0).

Thorp led 25-20 at halftime. Madison Wicks was the high scorer for Thorp with 11 points. Cassidy Stroinski added nine and Danielle Stroinski had eight.

Thorp (1-2, 0-1) plays at McDonell on Tuesday.

Boys Basketball

Webster 58, New Auburn 19

At New Auburn, the Trojans fell to the Tigers in nonconference action.

Dylan North led New Auburn (0-1) with eight points.

New Auburn is back in action Monday, when it hosts Shell Lake.

Neillsville 80, Gilman 51

At Neillsville, the Warriors beat the Pirates in an Eastern Cloverbelt Conference contest.

Dallas Skabroud scored a team-best 22 points including six 3-pointers while Aaron Nagel added 14 points for Gilman (0-2, 0-2).

Braden Trunkel and Alex King each scored 16 points for Neillsville (2-1, 2-0).

Gilman plays at Rib Lake on Tuesday.

Girls Hockey

Sun Prairie 6, Chi-Hi/Menomonie 3

At Waunakee, Chi-Hi/Menomonie was defeated in a nonconference matchup.

Haley Frank recorded 29 saves in the game. Scoring goals for Chi-Hi/Menomonie were Megan Klass, Chloe Beaudette and Kaylee Frenette.

Chi-Hi/Menomonie (0-3-0) is back on the ice Thursday, traveling to Black River Falls.
