Dan Sutton of Birmingham, England defeated Thomas Campbell of New Zealand, birdieing the first hole of a sudden death playoff to win the Chippewa Valley Golf Association's Lake Wissota Open on Sunday at Lake Wissota Golf Course.
Sutton will be a Senior on the Kansas Jayhawks golf team next season where he earned All-Big 12 Conference honors last year. Both Dan and Thomas carded blistering 62’s to tie and force a the playoff. Both birdied 3 of the final 4 holes on their way to their 62’s. In third place was course pro Cody Peterson, who shot a 65.
Fourth place was Jason Allen of Stevens Point who shot a 66. Yarri Bryn and Garrett Loomis, who currently plays for Marquette University, were both at 68, followed by 2017 State Amateur Champion Matt Tolan who shot at 69. A total of 8 players shot 69 or better on the par 71 golf course. Bob Payne won the only skin by holing a wedge from 110 yards for eagle on hole #8 and pocketed $420.
A total of 64 players participated at the tournament.
