2017 Leinenkugel's Pure Water Days Races

Braeden Michael of Chippewa Falls won the Leinenkugel’s Pure Water Days Races half marathon on Saturday morning, clocking in with a time of 1:21:09.

Eau Claire’s Anthony Dupont was the winner of the four mile race at 20:46, while Elijah Freeman, also of Eau Claire, won the one mile race with a 6:08.2 run.

142 runners participated in the half marathon. Jeff Harvey of Ingleside, Ill., finished in second place at 1:22:19. Justin Bye of Minnetonka, Minn., and Tony Bye of Chippewa Falls both ran a 1:25:37, and Altoona’s Kevin Larson rounded out the top five with a time of 1:26:42. The top female finisher was Eau Claire’s Jamie Riley, who finished in eighth place with a run of 1:30:54.

Boyceville’s Melissa Moore was the second woman to finish. She placed 12th with a time of 1:34:04. Davenport, Iowa’s Mary Toohill wasn’t far behind to take 13th at 1:34:40.

Dupont led the pack of 268 runners to participate in the four mile run. Eau Claire’s David Bachmeier took second place at 20:48, followed by Scott Hayden, also of Eau Claire, at 20:54. Justin Tavormina of Okemons, Mich., took fourth with a 23:16 run, and Chippewa Falls’ Erik Sworski placed fifth at 23:26.

Rebecca Mallon of Davenport, Iowa, was the highest female finisher at 12th place. She ran the four miles in 25:18. Altoona’s Emily Jaeger took second among the women and 15th overall at 26:19. Colby’s Amanda Kaiser took 16th with a 26:24 run, and Karen Swanson of Chippewa Falls ended in 17th at 26:27.

Freeman had the fastest one mile time of 78 participants. He was followed by 13-year-old Jarod Loew of Colfax, who took second with a time of 6:21.08. 9-year-old Seth Rogge of Bloomer took third in 6:25.2, followed by Chippewa Falls’ Lee Schmidgall in fourth with a 6:25.8. 8-year-old Miles Schmidgall of Chippewa Falls took fifth with a run of 6:25.9.

13-year-old Lydia Fish of Chippewa Falls led the female runners with a seventh place finish and a time of 6:41.3. 11-year-old Gabrielle Aarvig, also of Chippewa Falls, took 22nd with a run of 8:03.9.

Chippewa Falls’ Jamie Friedrich won the wheelchair half marathon with a time of 1:28:30. Jeffrey Bergeman, also of Chippewa Falls, finished in second at 1:33:52.
