McDonell’s Kyle Cody has been named the Western Cloverbelt Conference Player of the Year and a first team selection for the 2011-12 season.

Cody, a senior, averaged over 20 points per game in the regular season for the Macks and helped them to a 20-2 regular season record. He was an honorable mention for the team last year.

He was joined on the first team by Cadott’s Nathan Spindler and Stanley-Boyd’s Phil Janisewski.

Spindler has averaged 14.6 points per game so far this season and was a second team selection last year.

Janisewski is third in Chippewa County in scoring so far this year, averaging 16.4 points per game and is a first-time selection.

McDonell’s Tyler Erickson and Cadott’s Austin Poehls were named to the second team. Poehls and Erickson have averaged 13.2 and 10.3 points per game this year, respectively. Thorp’s Brandon Lewan joined Erickson and Poehls on the second team.

McDonell’s Ryan Baier and Josh Watton were named to the team as honorable mentions.

Brendon Downs, Fall Creek; Kyle Nelson, Fall Creek; Ryan Baier, McDonell; Josh Watton, McDonell; Robbie Ottestad, Osseo-Fairchild; Bobby Mickelson, Regis.
