Remains found in Menomonie last week have been identified as human, the Menomonie Police Department said on Monday.

Officers responded about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 to reports of remains found in a wooded area near the 300 block of 28th Avenue in Menomonie.

The investigation is ongoing and the police department is receiving assistance from the Wisconsin State Crime Lab.
