Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

A community-wide event honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, at First Congregational United Church of Christ (420 Wilson Ave., Menomonie).

Speakers include Carol Vang, president of the Hmong Stout Student Organization; Rev. Kathleen Remund, First Congregational United Church of Christ; Bill and Jacalyn Broughton, Grace Episcopal Church; and Shelby Schuppe, UW Stout Peace Studies graduate and Kingian Nonviolence trainer.

Musical selections will be presented by Dr. Mark Pruett and the Oaklawn Elementary School choir, Tim Lutz, director. In honor of the 60th anniversary of the integration of Central High School in Little Rock, Ark., a group of middle school students will present a tribute to “The Little Rock Nine.” A service project to support students in need of winter supplies will follow the program. All are welcome.
