David “Butch” L. Wolfe, 61, of Menomonie passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2018, In Deland, Fla. after a courageous battle with cancer.
Butch was born Feb. 19, 1957, in Menomonie, to Clyde (Bud) and Goldie Wolfe. He grew up in the Menomonie area and attended Menomonie High School. Butch was blessed with a son, Jeremy, in August of 1976. Their relationship was father/son but more importantly best friends.
Butch met his wife, Karen (Stamschror) in January of 1991. They enjoyed many years together and ultimately married in February of 2015 in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. They enjoyed the Florida sunshine, his passion for “knees to the breeze,” hunting, fishing, golf and all other outdoor activities. In 2012 he retired from the Operating Engineers Union after 35 years as a heavy equipment operator. Butch was a Gold Star Parent losing Jeremy in Iraq in 2003.
Butch is survived by his wife, Karen of Menomonie; his mother, Goldie of Menomonie; his sister, Sally (Lloyd) Reed of Boyceville; niece, Cheyenne of Boyceville; and his “Brother in Heart,” John Peterson; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy; and his father, Bud.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Cedarbrook Church in Menomonie, with Pastor Kyle Gunderson officiating. There will be visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Following the service there will be a celebration of life at Menomonie Golf and Country Club.
