The Dunn County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man killed in a hay baler accident in the town of Menomonie.

Danny Eckert, 67, of rural Menomonie was killed in the accident Monday afternoon.

Rescue crews and county deputies rushed to the scene after reports of a man trapped in a hay baler.

The 9-1-1 call to the 6900 block of 513th Street in the town of Menomonie came in at 2:57 p.m.

According to Sheriff Dennis Smith, when deputies and Menomonie Fire and Ambulance arrived, they found that the operator of the round baler died when he got caught in the machine.

Also assisting on scene was the Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
