‘Let’s Go Fishing’ (LGF) in Menomonie is a new non-profit that provides fishing and boating excursions free of charge to seniors, veterans, youth, and the disabled and will be launching their season opening celebration on June 1 from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. at Point Comfort Park in Menomonie.
Attendees will be able to learn about LGF, tour the boat house, and take a quick ride on the boat.
Founded to provide members of our community the opportunity to benefit from nature’s healing, LGF charters boating and fishing cruises throughout the summer and provides a safe, handicap-accessible boat, along with trusted drivers and volunteers for each cruise, as well as all the items guests will need to enjoy a fun-filled fishing experience.
(LGF) launched in Willmar, Minn. in the spring of 2002. Founder Joe Holm’s vision was to enrich the lives of others by providing opportunities for senior citizens to get out and enjoy the outdoors through fishing and boating excursions. That first summer a small group of volunteers joined together to bring the outdoor experience to 350 seniors. Today, the organization has affiliates located throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin and an increasing demand to expand the program nationally. A network of affiliates utilizes the time and talent of nearly 2,000 volunteers who have provided services to over 160,000 seniors since its inception.
LGF – Menomonie is a 501©3 non-profit organization. A fundraising campaign is currently underway to help fund the program, which serves Menomonie and surrounding communities. To learn more about LGF visit www.menomonie.lgfws.com.
