Lammer’s customers work toward $1,000 in donations to help homeless

  • 0

Lammer’s Food Fest has been partnering with West CAP to help Dunn County families experiencing homelessness receive personal and household supplies. Donation levels of $10, $15 or $20 have provided more than $600 worth of items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, toilet paper and household cleaners to families. The goal is $1,000 of donations by the end of April. Lammer’s customers donate by purchasing a bag of items or donating single items. Lammer’s Food Fest has served the community since 1860 and continues to partner with non-profit agencies to assist those in need.

Homelessness is a problem that West CAP has addressed since 1991. West CAP Housing Assistance programs provide eviction prevention, short and long term rent subsidy programs and foreclosure intervention programs. The goal of all programs is to help individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency and permanent housing.

In the western region of Wisconsin and across the state, the numbers of people experiencing homelessness are not decreasing. In the 11 county western region of Wisconsin in 2013 a total of 1,392 people stayed at least one night in an emergency shelter and another 825 people experiencing homelessness were in programs providing rental subsidy and case management.
