Soler named to Deans Honor Roll at Fort Hays State University

HAYS, Kan. — Daniel Eugene Soler of Menomonie, is among the 1,111 students named by deans at Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kan., to the Deans Honor Roll for the fall 2013 semester.

Soler is a junior majoring in justice studies.

The list includes undergraduate students only. To be eligible, students must have enrolled in 12 or more credit hours and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60 for the semester. Full-time on-campus and FHSU Virtual College students are eligible.

Henning named to Concordia University Wisconsin Dean’s List

Concordia University Wisconsin officials released the Fall Dean’s List for the first semester of 2013-2014 academic year. To be eligible for the honor, students must achieve a minimum 3.50 GPA.

Among the area students is Jessica Henning, a senior Natural Science major from Elk Mound.

Dean’s List announced for the University of Wisconsin-Platteville

PLATTEVILLE — University of Wisconsin-Platteville announced its 2013 fall semester Dean’s List. Students receive this academic honor in the College of Business, Industry, Life Science and Agriculture and the College of Liberal Arts and Education must achieve a 3.75 grade point average and students in the College of Engineering, Math and Science must earn a 3.5 grade point average.

Among those who made the Dean’s List were

Nicholas Adams of Boyceville and Elisa Broughton and Jason Falteisek of Menomonie.

Schwendinger named to the Dean’s List at The Citadel

CHARLESTON, SC — Emily Morgan Schwendinger of Menomonie, has been named to the Dean’s List at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, for academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2013-2014 academic year.

Dean’s List recognition is given to those students whose grade point average is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester’s work.

While at The Citadel, Emily is working toward a BS in Biology .

The Citadel, founded in 1842, is a public, coeducational military college in Charleston, S.C., that offers a classic military education for young men and women.

Gaiman named to Fall 2013 Dean’s List at Wake Forest University

WINSTON SALEM, NC — Madeleine Gaiman from Menomonie, was named to the Fall 2013 Dean’s List at Wake Forest University.

Students who achieve a 3.4 and no grade below a C were named to the list.

Local students receive degrees from UW-River Falls

RIVER FALLS — The following local residents were among 420 students who received degrees during fall commencement at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in December 2013. Bachelor’s degrees were awarded to 367 undergraduates while 53 students received master’s degrees. Area students are listed by hometown below:


Jurita Foltyn received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood and received Summa Cum Laude honors. Staci Sikora received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and received Senior Merit honors.


Kyle Govin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Crop & Soil Science. Anna McCabe received a Master of Business Administration degree in business. Melissa McVey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and received Senior Merit honors. Michael Merritt received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health & Human Performance and received Magna Cum Laude honors. Jacob Starkey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business.

Maxfield named to Dean’s List at UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER — Kalyn Maxfield from Menomonie, has made the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater dean’s list for the 2013 fall semester.

These students have demonstrated their academic abilities by receiving a grade point average of 3.4 or above in a single semester.

“I want to extend my congratulations to every student who set high academic standards for the fall semester and achieved a high grade point meriting recognition through the college dean’s list, and I encourage them to keep up the good work,” said Mary Pinkerton, interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. “We are very proud of you!”

The Registrar’s Office reports 3,153 students were selected for the dean’s List for the fall semester. About 12,000 students are currently enrolled at UW-Whitewater.

Mollan named to Dean’s List at the University of Minnesota, Morris

MORRIS, Minn. — Christina Mollan has been named to the University of Minnesota, Morris Dean’s List for the Fall 2013 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List students must achieve a grade point average of 3.66 or higher while taking 12 or more credits, two-thirds of these credits on the A-F grading system.

Morris is the University of Minnesota’s public liberal arts college, a residential campus located in west central Minnesota.

Dodor earns degree from St. Cloud State

ST. CLOUD, Minn. — St. Cloud State University conducted fall 2013 commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Halenbeck Hall and awarded 977 degrees to students: 845 undergraduate, 131 graduate and one doctoral.

Among them is Ellen Dodor of Menomonie with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications.

St. Cloud State offers is Minnesota’s second largest public university with more than 16,000 students and offers more than 200 undergraduate and 60 graduate programs in business, education, fine arts and humanities, science and engineering and social sciences.
