Rock Fest brings punk back to town

Two newcomers and a Rock Fest veteran — along with over 60 other acts — will play the 25th iteration of the rock festival in Cadott, a festival official announced Tuesday. The show will run Thursday, July 12, through Saturday, July 14.

Disturbed, a Grammy-nominated hard rock band that covered the Simon and Garfunkel classic “The Sound of Silence” in 2015, will headline Rock Fest for the first time.

Los Angeles act Incubus will also make their debut appearance in Cadott in 2018. The band has toured with Linkin Park, OutKast, Moby and Queens of the Stone Age, a press release said.

Grammy-nominated band Godsmack headlined the Rock Fest stage in 2015, and is returning three years later. The band has played with Black Sabbath and made an appearance at Woodstock in 1999, the press release said.

The festival will once again be hosted by radio personality Lou Brutus, and headliners will be joined by Rise Against, Halestorm, Seether and more. Bands new to Rock Fest include Black Label Society, Bush, Underoath, Gwar and Beartooth.

“Dee Snider, lead singer of Twisted Sister, and Ace Frehley, lead guitarist and co-founder of KISS, will also perform solo shows. Neither artist has performed Rock Fest without their bands — Twisted Sister in 2003 and 2004, and KISS in 2007 and 2013,” the press release said.

Camping, hotel shuttles, a mobile app and online registration will be offered again in 2018. Tickets, camping and pit passes can be purchased at Gates will open Thursday, July 12.

Past Rock Fests have hosted Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, KISS, Mötley Crüe, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty and others.
