On Tuesday, June 5, the sun will set on the first concert of the Ludington Guard Band’s summer season under the bandshell in Menomonie’s Wilson Park.

On Monday, April 16, the Ludington Guard Band began its pre-season rehearsals for the upcoming summer season. Formed in 1888, the Ludington Guard is the oldest continually operating band in Wisconsin! They will continue their tradition of performing free summer concerts on Tuesday nights in Menomonie’s Wilson Park Band Shell beginning on June 5, with the last concert on Aug. 7.

Each concert will feature a flag raising, pie and ice cream social, fresh popcorn, and great music performed by outstanding local talent. Nonprofits interested in participating in the pie social need to be present at a drawing to be held on April 30, at 7 p.m. in the UW-Stout Applied Arts Room #313. For more information, send an e-mail to lgbpresident@gmail.com.

Additionally, there will be four theme concerts this year. Returning once again will be Circus Night on June 19 and the Patriotic Concert on July 3.

New this year is Music from Around the World on July 17 — and closing out the theme concerts on July 24 will be Christmas in July, complete with a reading of The Night Before Christmas and Tuba Christmas performing during intermission.

More information about these concerts will be available on our Facebook page.
