Third annual Half Moon Dragon Boat Festival

Online registration for the third annual Half Moon Dragon Boat Festival Saturday Aug. 5, sponsored by Mayo Clinic Health System, will be available from March 1-31. The summer community event attracted thousands of participants and spectators in 2016 as teams raced the 250-meter course on Half Moon Lake in Eau Claire.

The third annual Half Moon Dragon Boats Festival online registration will be available starting Wednesday, March 1 through March 30.

Sponsored by Mayo Clinic Health System, the event will be held Saturday, Aug. 5. The festival starts at Half Moon Lake in Eau Claire.

The festival will consist of a 250-meter long course on the lake that teams will race on in dragon boats, referencing the ancient Chinese water sport. Each boat in the race is propelled by a crew of twenty paddlers, a drummer and a steersperson.

Teams may register as a guaranteed team for a reserved spot costing $1,500 or a lottery team entering the team into a lottery system and if selected, the fee is $1,000.

To register online, visit mayoclinichealthsystem.org/halfmoondragon. For more information about registration, call Maria Seibel at (715)838-3177.
