Wearable tech is becoming more popular every day and it could help save lives. Studies have shown that Apple Watch can actually detect an irregular heartbeat.

The sensors in the watch can be used to analyze pulse data. When the sensors detect large variations in heartbeats over a 48-hour period, it will send out an alert. In one Stanford study, over 419,000 Apple Watch wearers shared their heart data with researchers.

A third of the participants were diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. Experts say wearable tech screenings may become successful over time, but need more research.
