Chi-Hi science student of the month: Mikayla Runge

Mikayla Runge, a junior, was selected as Science Student of the Month by her Earth Science teacher at Chippewa Falls Senior High School, Kelly Foster. “Mikayla received one of the highest scores on the rock test in my six sections of Earth Science...her humorous personality brings an enjoyable dynamic to the classroom,” Foster said.

Runge chose Heather Brandner, currently her AP Chemistry teacher, and pre-AP Chemistry teacher last year, as her most influential. “Mrs. Brandner is my most influential teacher because she always pushed me to do my best on worksheets, labs, and tests...she has made me enjoy science classes which in turn has led me to pursue a career in science,” Runge said.

Runge’s future plans include attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison to get a bachelor’s degree in biology, and then attend medical school in Madison to become a clinical geneticist. Mikayla is the daughter of Sheri and Tim Runge.
