Jarrod Eich

A Chippewa Falls man has been charged with operating while intoxicated for the eighth time.

Jarrod P. Eich, 43, was sentenced in Nov. 2009 to 2 1/2 years in prison and 4 1/2 years of extended supervision after his seventh OWI.

All seven of his previous intoxicated driving convictions were between 2003 and 2009; six were in Chippewa, Eau Claire and Price counties, and one in Minnesota.

Eich’s recent charges stem from a Dec. 30, 2017 incident in Chippewa Falls. Eich was pulled over by a Chippewa County patrol deputy and admitted he had consumed two 16-ounce beers at a local bar before driving away in his vehicle.

A blood draw later showed that Eich’s blood-alcohol content was 0.105 at the time of his arrest. The legal blood-alcohol limit to drive in Wisconsin is 0.08.

Eich’s initial appearance in Chippewa County court is slated for Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Judge Steven H. Gibbs.
