A Stanley man has been charged with a felony count of misappropriate ID information and resisting or obstructing an officer after a November traffic stop in Stanley.
According to a criminal complaint, Matthew J. Graham, 33, was arrested after a Stanley Police Department officer received a tip that Graham had active warrants in Chippewa, Clark and Eau Claire counties and a revoked driver’s license.
After law enforcement pulled over a car suspected to be Graham’s on County Highway X in Stanley, the driver said his name was “Bill Graham … William J. Graham,” although the driver’s face matched a photo of Matthew J. Graham.
“The driver could not provide the last four digits of his social security number and had trouble providing his height and weight,” the complaint said.
Law enforcement eventually arrested the driver, who was later confirmed to be Matthew J. Graham. “Okay, you got me,” Graham said, then asked, “So how many warrants do I have?”
“Thank you! He’s always using my name and getting me tickets!” said William Graham, after law enforcement contacted him and warned him Matthew Graham had attempted to use his identity, the complaint said.
Matthew Graham will appear in Chippewa County Court Jan. 16 at 1:30 p.m.
